2008 Horse Shows by the Bay Recognizes Generous Sponsors

Traverse City, MI --- The 2008 Horse Shows by the Bay equestrian festival will feature three disciplines of equestrian sport over three weeks from July 16-August 3 at the Flintfields Horse Park in scenic Traverse City, MI. The horse shows have grown annually in their five year history, and the success of the shows could not have happened without the generous support of sponsors.

The grand prix level sponsors include:

Karin Flint, originally from Harbor Springs, MI, is the founder and creator of D-BRAIDER which is a grooming tool used to take out show braids in a horse’s manes. Karin Flint is responsible for the construction of Flintfields Horse Park and her company D-BRAIDER is the sponsor of Series III’s $25,000 Cherry Capital Classic Grand Prix. Flint has show jumping horses in training with Olympic Silver Medalist Lisa Jacquin, who will be showing this year during Horse Shows by the Bay Series II and Series III.

Kimberly VanKampen Boyer is the owner of Hampton Green Farm which is a breeding and training barn out of Fruitport, MI and Wellington, FL. Hampton Green specializes in the promotion of the Pure Spanish Horse (PRE). Their breeding stock has been carefully selected with an emphasis on exceptional movement, athletic build and a kind temperament. The stallions compete in the National and International FEI Dressage arenas and have a proven record of winning titles at the most prestigious shows. Hampton Green horses will be in attendance this year at Dressage by the Bay which will be featured in the Robert Van Kampen Arena and Robert Van Kampen Pavilion during Series III of Horse Shows by the Bay.

Janet Read is a Michigan native with ties to the Old Mission Peninsula. Read owns horses in training with Tim and Kelly Goguen of Boggs Hill in Lexington, KY and Wellington, FL. Boggs Hill will compete at all three weeks of Horse Shows by the Bay. The Main Hunter Ring has been dedicated in the name of R.L. Polk in honor of her family. This year Janet is the proud sponsor of the $10,000 ASG/USHJA High Performance Hunter Derby Classic scheduled for Series II.

Positive Step Farm, in Howell, MI, is owned by Patrice Schreiber and Brian Moore. Patrice and Brian are members of the Horse Shows by the Bay Founders Club and continually play an integral role in the annual production of Horse Shows by the Bay. Their 40 acre farm is a family-run breeding operation specializing in the production of fine Irish Sport Horses.

Spycoast Farm is a 24 acre farm located on the northern coastline of Long Island, NY, on a peninsula called Strongs Neck. The farm is owned by the Lourie Family and specializes in the breeding and early development of top quality hunter and jumper performance horses. Look for the Spy Coast Farm riders Shane Sweetnam and Julie Lourie piloting one of their many winning horses in the Team Elmer’s Grand Prix Ring during Series I and II. Spycoast Farm is the title sponsor to the $25,000 Grand Prix of Traverse City.

Team Elmers is a full service engineering and construction company based out of Traverse City, MI. They are responsible for the development and construction of both Phase I and Phase II of the newly constructed Flintfields Horse Park which serves as headquarters for Horse Shows by the Bay. Team Elmer’s is Northern Michigan’s largest construction company and is the sponsor this year of the newly constructed Grand Prix Show Jumping Arena.

Lisa A.H. Cudahy, of Mequon, WI, is an avid horse owner and amateur rider. She has horses in training with Cookie Beck, who will be in attendance during Horse Shows by the Bay Series I and Series II. Cudahy serves as the sponsor to the $5,000 Adult Hunter Classic and the $5,000 Children’s Hunter Classic which are feature hunter events of Series I.

English Riding Supply, in Scranton, PA, is the USA importer for more than 25 of the top brands in riding equipment and apparel. Their brands are available from over 800 tack shops, catalogs, and web sites nationwide. English Riding Supply is the title sponsor to the Ovation Leading Riders Series and is also the supplier of the championship and classic wool show coolers that are awarded to all of the winners at Horse Shows by the Bay.

Their shop, Bead by Bead, specializes in hand-crafted custom-made beaded jewelry. Northface Farm is sponsoring the $10,000 Children’s and Adult Prix this year during Horse Shows by the Bay Series III.
