Rainy Days at the Spruce Meadows "May Classic"
May 8, 2009
Calgary, AB --- Competing through rainy days is one of the things that separates show jumpers from most other athletes. The rain did not stand in the way of the 20 riders who braved the elements this afternoon at Spruce Meadows to compete in the 1.30m Canadian Utilities Jumper Welcome.
On this day it was Stephanie Lewis (CAN) and her 10 year-old Irish bred gelding Tanuki who bested the field. The pair finished the course with a time of 84.45 to take home top prize.
The Spruce Meadows “May Classic” Tournament will continue over the weekend, hopefully under clear skies. Tomorrow’s feature competition, the $10,000 CN Cup will take place on the North American Ring beginning at 3:00 pm. The 1.40m competition will feature some fantastic sport on a Werner Deeg (GER) designed course.
