Deeridge Farm's Lou Jacobs had a Spectacular Week Three at the Winter Equestrian Festival

February 1, 2010

Wellington, FL –-– Lou Jacobs of Deeridge Farm started out Week 3 at Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) with a win in the $8000 1.45m on his trusty Belgian Warmblood, Kachina. After a day off, Jacobs and Kachina entered the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Classic and once again dominated in the International Ring over a class of 29 entries. Then, on the last day of competition Jacobs took his Royal Dutch Warmblood, Soleil into the $10,000 Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, and placed third over a starting group of 54. Overall, it was a great week for Jacobs and Deeridge Farm.

Kachina and Jacobs have shown at WEF each week and have moved up in the classes and fence height, starting from week 1 in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumpers, to week 2 in the High Amateur-Owner Jumpers, and then week 3 in the 1.45m Jumpers and on to the 1.50m. “I have been moving Kachina up slowly,” Jacobs said. “She is a good girl, and I want to do what’s best for her.” His plan has definitely worked, with two big wins this week. Jacobs and Kachina have been showing together for many years and he always hops off and tells her what a good girl she has been to him.

Commenting on both the 1.45m and the 1.50m, Jacobs said, “The courses were set for a horse with a big stride and a quick pace, which is exactly where Kachina does her best.” He was very excited about both wins and is looking forward to the next few weeks at WEF. As for next week, he will be going back to work in East Aurora where he works as a principal next to his brothers and father for Delaware North Companies, and then back to Wellington with his entire family.
