Stampede highlights for Tuesday, July 13, 2010

July 12, 2010

Western Heritage Day

The rich tradition of the Calgary Stampede has been developed over many generations, and we’re showing our pride in western heritage by honouring those who helped build our community. Seniors who come on Park are treated to a host of freebees including gate admission and breakfast.

It’s a battle of the bands

More than 20 marching bands from all over the world will perform and compete on Tuesday for $20,000 in prize money. Showbands Live! takes place in the Pengrowth Saddledome at 1 p.m. and features over 1,600 musicians and colour guards.

A big day for some small horses

The miniature horse show is celebrating 30 years at the Stampede, and some of the original exhibitors will be on hand to share their stories and talk about these charming animals. Tuesday is the final day of the show with the Canadian National Supreme Halter Champion being awarded at 2 p.m. in the Agriculture barn.

On stage

Nashville North: Collin Raye, 9 p.m.

Coca-Cola Stage: Three Days Grace, 9 p.m.

Saddledome Plaza Stage: A Band of Outriders, 7:30 p.m.
